The Scope — The UCR School of Medicine Student-Produced Newsletter
Written and produced by the students of the UCR School of Medicine, The Scope gives a snapshot of life both in and out of the classroom. It is distributed monthly via email.
Special Lecture Series
The Special Lecture Series is an important teaching tool and ritual of medical education, serving as an essential supplement to medical school and on-the-job resident training. The Special Lecture Series helps students keep up to date on important evolving areas which may be outside their core practice and classroom experience.
Big Sib/Little Sib Peer Mentorship Program
The Big Sib/Little Sib student mentoring programming provides MS1 students with a MS2 mentor. The relationship fostered between the mentor/mentee is to support the success of MS1 students transitioning into the UCR SOM through advice and support from MS2s.
Student Council & Senate
The School of Medicine Associated Students (SOMAS) of the University of California, Riverside's purpose is to unite the medical student body for the purpose of working together harmoniously and intelligently, to cite individual responsibility and to re-affirm personal integrity, to achieve an atmosphere in which each medical student works conscientiously to promote a loyal and enduring school spirit and execute programs which serve the collective interests of the medical student population; and to advocate for the increased presence of well medically trained professionals throughout Inland Southern California.
Med Prom is an annual student formal event that is usually held in January. It is an opportunity for students across all medical years to get together outside of classes for a fun night out away from the pressures of medical school.
